This week our enlarged text was called The Snake Cake.
It was about a Queen who wanted a 'different' cake for her birthday. The Queen told the villagers that if they made her a different cake she would invite them to her palace for a party. They all tried making special cakes for her.
In the end the school children made her a 'Snake Cake'. It was 'different'.
On Friday, we made a snake cake. It was so much fun...and delicious!
Measurement Yesterday we did a challenge to see who could make the longest chain.
This activity involved working with a buddy. They both had a responsibility. After discussing their ideas on how to make the LONGEST chain, one person cut and the other stapled the loops together. After 20 mins everyone stopped. We took the chains outside to work out which one was the longest.
We decided that we should line the chains up along the yellow line so that we could compare the chains fairly. Such a range in lengths. We discovered the best way to create a long chain was by cutting the paper in thin strips across the longest part of the paper.
